VMA acquires Rolling Robotics

Sint-Martens-Latem (BE) – 03 February 2022 - VMA is strengthening its Industrial Automation (IA) segment by acquiring the Polish firm Rolling Robotics.

For many years now, VMA has been an active service provider whose Industrial Automation teams develop integrated projects in electrical and mechanical engineering and in automation within a process environment and the manufacturing industry.

Its range of services includes mechanical and electrical engineering, supply and installation of process plants, robotisation and material handling, panel construction and cabling works, implementation of MES and WMS* systems as well as process control (PLC-SCADA*) in the most common programming languages of production lines. More particularly, VMA has built up expertise in the area of transport facilities and welding lines for the automotive industry in Belgium and abroad for premium brand cars.

With the acquisition of Rolling Robotics, VMA substantially strengthens its engineering capacity in the field of robotisation. Rolling Robotics specialises in simulation and off-line programming of robots. This specialty makes it possible to design programs for the robot before the robot cell is built. After a virtual 3D model is created, the robot and PLC software are virtually tested using VMA simulation software, resulting in a functionally tested production line including robot movements in a virtual environment. This allows a smoother and safer on-site start-up.

Rolling Robotics has a staff of around 50 robot specialists. The previous owner, Thomasz Rolling, will stay on board and will lead VMA’s Automotive business line.
